Capo
Privacy policy

Capo, kept private.

Capo is a browser extension that adjusts the pitch, speed and volume of audio and video on any webpage. It’s provided by Elyra Labs LLC. Here’s exactly what we collect, what we don’t, and why.

What we collect

With anonymous diagnostics enabled (on by default, togglable at any time in Settings), the extension sends the following to our analytics provider, PostHog (US cloud):

  • A random anonymous ID generated locally on install. Never linked to any personal information.
  • The extension version, your browser (Chrome or Firefox), and your locale (e.g. en-US).
  • Product events: when the popup is opened, when you adjust pitch / speed / volume, when you change a setting, when you reset.
  • Site diagnostics: the domain name of pages where you enable Capo (e.g. youtube.com), the number of audio/video elements on the page, and whether audio was actually produced after enabling. This helps us find sites where the extension silently fails.
  • Error codes and a short hash of error messages so we can diagnose crashes without logging message contents.

What we never collect

  • Full URLs or query strings — youtube.com/watch?v=… is reduced to youtube.com before anything leaves your browser.
  • Page titles or any page content.
  • Audio content. Ever.
  • Cookies, localStorage, or account information from the pages you visit.
  • Your IP address — PostHog is configured to discard it at ingest.
  • Anything at all while anonymous diagnostics is turned off.

We do not sell or share your personal information, including for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Uninstall survey

If you uninstall the extension, Chrome will open a short optional survey asking why. It receives your anonymous ID and extension version only — no browsing history or personal information.

Data retention

PostHog stores events for 90 days. Survey responses sit in our database until we export or delete them.

Your controls

  • Turn off anonymous diagnostics in the extension’s Settings panel. No further data is sent after you flip the switch, and any pending events are dropped.
  • Uninstall the extension to remove all local state.
  • To request access to or deletion of data associated with your anonymous ID, email support@elyralabs.org with the ID (visible in the Settings panel).

Children

The extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
